About the Office
Daniel N. Arnold is the principal of DNA Family History Research Office, based on Sydney's Lower North Shore. Born and raised near the German town of Ingolstadt, he came to beautiful Sydney in 1999 and is a dual Australian and German citizen. Before turning his passion for family history into a professional career in 2024, Daniel worked for more than ten years as a court-appointed linguist in the legal industry, both in Australia and Germany. Previously, he was managing director of a Sydney-based leisure company for six years and partner in a childcare centre on Sydney's Upper North Shore for three years. Today, Daniel works with clients around the world, with a focus on Australia, where he offers in-person family history tutoring, workshops and consultations in Sydney and Melbourne. His clients also come from across Europe, the United States, and the British Isles. Daniel speaks fluent German, English, Spanish, Hebrew, and a little French. He is a double Mayflower descendant through Francis Cooke and Samuel Fuller and lives with his son in Mosman, on Sydney's stunning Lower North Shore.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to clear the road ahead for people exploring their family history.
Genealogy can be extraordinarily rewarding, but it can also become complicated very quickly. DNA results create new possibilities and new questions. Family trees grow, records conflict, unfamiliar tools appear, and important discoveries can seem just beyond reach. My role is to help you move through that complexity with confidence.
I want to take you from where you are today to where you might otherwise only arrive after years of researching, experimenting and heading down the occasional wrong path. Often, the greatest value I can provide is sharing what I know, showing you which tools and methods matter, helping you understand what the evidence is really telling you, and giving you a clearer road forward.
This is especially important in DNA genealogy, where the right test, comparison or interpretation can completely change the direction of a search.
But genealogy is never simply about records, data or centimorgans. Behind every enquiry is a real person and a real family story — fascinating, joyful, deeply personal, or perhaps unanswered for decades.
I become invested in every story I work on. Whether you are just beginning or trying to solve a question that has followed your family for generations, my commitment is to bring the curiosity, persistence and personal attention I would want someone to bring to my own.

How far back can roots be traced?
This family tree represents the result of many years of genealogical research into the ancestry of one of Daniel’s close relatives. Rather than displaying hundreds of individual names and dates, it tells a broader story: the different ancestral and genetic components that came together over time. Each branch traces a geographical origin and the migration pathways followed across generations, illustrating how people from different regions gradually converged into a single family line. Spanning approximately 500 to 700 years, the tree offers a visual history of movement, heritage and connection — showing not simply who the ancestors were, but where they came from.

Most people think family history is about building a family tree. In reality, that's just the beginning. Every family tree tells a story far richer than names, dates, and places. It reveals who we are, where we come from, and how thousands of lives came together to make our own.

Not everyone wants to do their family's genealogy themselves. I can maintain and develop a family tree and preserve important documents on your behalf - you remain hands-off. Includes pro-active growth and maintainenance of your family history. You receive quarterly summary reports. The data is safe for generations to come.
