Service Description

Old family photographs, letters, certificates, albums and documents often exist in only one physical copy. Over time, they can fade, deteriorate, become damaged, or simply be lost when belongings are moved, inherited or dispersed between different branches of a family. The Family Records Digitalization & Archiving service is designed to help preserve these materials before that happens. Available in Sydney only, this is a fully mobile, in-home service. I bring the necessary technical equipment to your home and work with your family collection on site, so valuable or fragile originals do not need to be transported elsewhere. Depending on your needs, sessions are available from 1 to 4 hours. During that time, I can scan photographs, certificates, letters and other family records, organise and name digital files, add identifying information and tags, and help create a practical archive that can be easily stored, searched and shared. Where appropriate, digitised material can also be uploaded directly to your online family tree, attached to the correct individuals, and organised so that future generations can understand what each image or document represents. This service is particularly useful for people who have accumulated large collections of family memorabilia over many years and are concerned that important material may eventually be lost through deterioration, neglect, downsizing, inheritance, or simple lack of organisation. The aim is not merely to create scans, but to help turn a fragile physical collection into a structured and accessible family archive. If you have boxes of old photographs, albums, folders of certificates, family letters or inherited papers that you have been meaning to sort out for years, this service provides a practical way to preserve them while the people who still know their stories are available to identify them.
